The most important game in the last round took place in Izalco between third ranked Cojute (11-6) and fourth ranked Brujos (8-8) on Monday night. Cojute was defeated by Brujos on the road 107-91. Brujos looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Brujos made 13 blocks. Guyanese-American center Anthony Moe (207-1990, college: Millersville) fired a double-double by scoring 28 points, 18 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 blocks for the winners. Dominican forward Juan De Los Santos (193-2002) chipped in 39 points (!!!), 6 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 steals. Brujos' coach Francisco Lemus used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American guard Jeremy Agosto (177-1997, agency: The French Family Consulting) produced 26 points, 9 rebounds and 8 assists for lost side. Brujos have an impressive five-game winning streak. They maintain fourth position with 8-8 record, which they share with Quezaltepeque. Cojute at the other side keeps the third place with six games lost. Brujos will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Cojute will play at home against the league's second-placed Santa Tecla and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Santa Tecla. Second ranked Santa Tecla faced 4th ranked Brujos. Host Santa Tecla (15-1) smashed guests from Izalco (8-8) 105-65. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Brujos. Worth to mention a great performance of Cuban forward Yoel Cubillas (204-1994) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 29 points and 20 rebounds. Adonis Lopez contributed with 23 points, 15 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners. Guyanese-American center Anthony Moe (207-1990, college: Millersville) replied with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 11 rebounds for Brujos. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Santa Tecla have an impressive seven-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with San Salvador. Brujos at the other side keep the fourth place with eight games lost. They share the position with Quezaltepeque. Santa Tecla will play against Cojute (#3) in Cojutepeque in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Brujos will have a break next round.
Leader San Salvador delivered the fifteenth victory on Tuesday night. This time they beat 6th ranked Metapan (7-9) 89-79. Andravious Smith had a double-double by scoring 19 points, 13 rebounds and 5 assists to lead the charge for the winners. At the losing side Deikel Sanchez responded with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 11 rebounds. San Salvador (15-1) have an impressive six-game winning streak. They maintain first position, which they share with Santa Tecla. Metapan lost third consecutive game. They keep the sixth place with nine games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.

In the last two games of round 22 Fantasmas crushed Chalchuapa in San Vicente 104-61. Cojute smashed Santa Ana at home 140-72.




Brujos - Cojute 107-91

Leader San Salvador delivered the fifteenth victory on Tuesday night. This time they beat 6th ranked Metapan (7-9) 89-79. San Salvador made 24-of-31 free shots (77.4 percent) during the game. American swingman Andravious Smith (198-1995, college: Tougaloo) had a double-double by scoring 19 points, 13 rebounds and 5 assists to lead the charge for the winners and Panamanian Alejandro Grant (199-1993) chipped in 23 points and 9 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side Nicaraguan guard Deikel Sanchez (-1996) responded with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 11 rebounds and American point guard Leangelo Saravia (183, college: Oakland City) scored 22 points and 6 rebounds. There was no surprise when 10th ranked Chalchuapa (1-16) was crushed at home by seventh ranked Fantasmas (6-9) 104-61 on Wednesday. Fantasmas dominated down low during the game scoring 80 of its points in the paint compared to Chalchuapa's 42. They outrebounded Chalchuapa 53-28 including a 20-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. Fantasmas looked well-organized offensively handing out 34 assists comparing to just 15 passes made by Chalchuapa's players. The game was dominated by American players. Nick Moore (198-1991, college: Alliance) had a double-double by scoring 23 points, 19 rebounds and 5 assists to lead the charge for the winners and guard Juwuan Carter (193-1996, college: Georgian Court) chipped in 33 points (!!!) and 10 rebounds during the contest. Carter is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Fantasmas players scored in double figures. Fantasmas' coach Julio Villalta felt very confident that he used 10 players and allowed the starting five to rest. At the losing side Gorg Alhag (190-1997, college: Mayville St.) responded with 22 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists and point guard Robert Story (183, college: WSSU) scored 14 points. Fantasmas maintains seventh position with 6-9 record. Chalchuapa lost eighth consecutive game. They stay at the bottom place with 16 games lost. Fantasmas will meet at home higher ranked Quezaltepeque (#4) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Chalchuapa will play against Santiagueno (#9) in Usultan and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
